Treme is the latest show from David Simon (The Wire, The Corner, Generation Kill) and revolves around a bunch of characters in post-Katrina New Orleans. It revolves heavily around jazz, band, and bounce/hiphop music. The main characters range from musicians to chefs, lawyers to barkeeps. While it deals with some controversial issues it is not as political as The Wire. It's a lot more chilled out and relaxed but still cuts deep in places. A must see for fans of David's work.
