In 1974, a group of college kids are headed to Dallas through the back roads of Texas. On the way, they encounter a young hitchhiker who shoots herself with a revolver. The kids contact the sheriff, who takes a long time to come down to meet them. Two of them wander over to a large homestead, which they discover is inhabited by a clan of psychopathic cannibals, including the sheriff and the people at the roadside stand! The leader of these is Leatherface - a 6'4' giant wearing a blood-splattered apron and a mask of human skin, who carries a nasty & loudly-buzzing chainsaw. One at a time, the young college students fall prey to the demented Leatherface and the cannibalistic inbreds, until only one girl remains - Erin. She must stay alive long enough to reveal the horrible secret of Leatherface to the world....Will she escape 'The Buzz'?
A remake of Tobe Hooper's original, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre is a chilling story about a group of teens stuck in a back water town where they get picked off by a disturbed killer. With a lot more gore than the original, and not so much tension, this still makes for a good watch. Fans of the film may want to get the 2 disc edition instead.
A group of young adults are on their way to a Lynard Skynard concert in Dallas. They cross through a small, isolated town called Travis County. They pick up a disturbed woman who then shoots herself with a gun. Looking for the local authorities, the group travels through the town, meeting the locals. One by one, they are picked off by a strange man with a demented face. Realising that they are in mortal danger, they must escape from the town from a family of cannibals and a chainsaw-wielding madman.
great movie! i liked the remake better than the original, as this is more modern so they could do more with the special effects. there are heaps of gruesome killing scenes, such as when a girl shoots herself in the head and then you see through her head! heaps of this had me peeking behind my eyes coz i couldnt handle the excitement!
I thought that this remake was better than the original in certain way's.
the girl gave leather face a run for his money this time without the annoying screaming and genrally flashed it up although it lacked the creative flare and built up suspence of the old. like many horrors of today.
I found the beginning sequence very appealing especially as it has fooled a great deal of people. If your interested in knowing the true story of what really hapened look for a movie called Ed Gein not really a horror but very close to the truth. you'll find many of the old horrers are pretty much 'based' on his true story.
the fact that this is true makes this so frightening, with a fresh cast and modern day filming this story has had fresh live breathed into it. When a van of unexpected teenagers end up in a country town they find themselves in a bloody dangerous hell with crazy freaks, really frightening. Good action. I liked it.
I found this movie quite frightening as it was quite graphic exspecially one of the first scenes. Overall i thought it was quite a good film. It sent shivers down my spine all the way through. i recommend it to people who really like a good hire but i must say i get quite frightened everytime i hear a chainsaw!!!
this film established a precedent for the film industry - a film with a body count. a disturbingly true story is brought to life by the five teenagers who fall into the trap of the masked leatherface. whilst this remake focuses more on terror it still holds true to the original version and that is what makes it far more scary...
Okay so I've heard this movie is great, I really have to disagree. I watched this movie when I was 13 and I just didn't find it scary in anyway. It was, in my eyes pretty lame. I did like it that it was a true story and got you thinking but I didn't really like it. If you scare easy, then this one will scare you if you don't then you'll find it not.
