Terrific series. Have watched them from start to finish and each episode is a riveting story. There's only one dud amongst them: "Sharpe's Gold" which doesn't seem to belong in the series, but it's still watchable all the same. Sean Bean is Sharpe - totally believable, a no-nonsense hero, quick witted, honourable and with a touch of mischief. The supporting cast is top notch. If you like period action drama you will not be disappointed. Best of all, the stories don't lose much with repeat screening!

This is one of the best television series ever. Each episode is a great story in itself. The acting is good, the atmosphere seems very realistic. None of the usual bad features of English drama (over-done female lead characters, lack of action or excitement, compulsory bitter endings)

I purchased this collection for m son in law who is a big fan. He is working his way through them. H said I couldn't have bought him a better gift. I myself enjoyed the series and will watch them when he has finished. I could watch them over and over again. The adventures never become boring.

Very enjoyable series. Would have been great were it in widescreen, but that said once you get into it you don't notice

Fishpond got this to me in record time. Great series, highly entertaining and recommended for anyone who likes good old adventure stories. Probably boring for today's microsecond attention-span audiences though. Sharpe's Waterloo is a bit sad for anyone who gets too attached to the main characters.

I purchased this collection for my husband, who has really enjoyed the books.
I remember seeing some of these on tv when they were first produced, and found that I still enjoyed seeing them now.
These are good reproductions of the books. Obviously plots and story lines have had to be tightened up a bit to fit into the time, but I think they are still quite faithful to the originals.
Beautifully produced. Sean Bean is perfect as Sharpe, and it is great to see so many of the other characters brought to life.

So far have only watched the first 3 episodes - but they have all been excellent and are very true to the "Sharpe" novels by Bernard Cornwell. Really looking forward to the rest of the episodes.

If you enjoyed any of the Sharpe series when it was shown on TV, or if you are intertesed in Napoleonic Military History, this series has got to be a must. The acting is excellent, from the main chararcter, right through the cameo roles, down to the foot soldiers. The atmosphere is just as you'd expect with the 'scum of the earth' (Wellington's opinion, not mine) in red uniforms led by a group of incompetent fops who had purchased their commissions. The uniforms and weapons are accurate and spectacular. As you would expect from a Rifle Brigade, most of the combat scenes reflect small scale engagements. But when the action moves to major battles these are also well handled. Well worth its price.
