Jane Austen's romantic novel, Sense & Sensibility centres around two devoted sisters, Elinor, whose dignity and restraint represents 'sense' and Marianne, excitable and impetuous, represents 'sensibility'. Forced by tragic circumstances they set about the delicate task of finding suitable husbands. After suffering a series of disappointments they wonder if they will ever find true love and happiness.
Filmed on location in Dorset and Somerset, this superb BBC production of Jane Austen's timeless classic captures the spirit and atmosphere of life in rural Georgian England.

Another great BBC production.
I don't think anything can match the BBC's Pride And Prejudice, but this one is still great. Considering how old it is - not sure when it was first made, but it is still very watchable today.
It had me up until 1am one night because I wanted to find out what happened at the end and who ended up with whom. I also shed a tear in a particulary sad bit, but I won't spoil it if you haven't watched it yet!
I would've given it 5 stars, but for the ending, it was so abrupt and I was waiting for a lovely proposal by a certain gentleman. I haven't finished reading the book yet, so it may end like that, but I was disappointed.
Definitely a good addition to any fan of Jane Austen or period pieces.
What a fantastic story. Of course, it is a classic. I'm sure Jane Austen herself would be exceptionally pleased with this re-make of her timeless novel. It left me wanting more...
I must admit I was surprised to see how highly rated this set is with the other reviewers. I am giving it three stars which I think is being a little generous. My major gripe with the set is poor acting and casting. Normally I don't think too much about the quality of acting or casting in a miniseries (or even movies) but in most of the DVDs here it was just too poor to ignore. This is especially so with the actress who played Fanny Price in Mansfield Park. It was an awful casting choice, same for the actress who played Anne Elliot in Persuasion. Most series felt as if you were watching a play that had been recorded. Some sets and costumes looked VERY dated. Sometimes it was hard to watch, only Emma did I find reasonably well done. This Pride and Prejudice doesn't hold a candle to the production of 1995.
