Friends star David Schwimmer goes behind the camera for this hilarious directorial debut that proves love isnt a sprint, its a marathon. Simon Pegg, is Dennis, a man on the runfrom the altar. Hes bolted, leaving his pregnant fianc (Thandie Newton) crying at the chapel and everyone else baying for his blood. Now five years later, dead-end Dennis wants to make up for lost time and prove hes the marrying kind and a good dad to his devoted son. Out of shape, out of time and out of options, Dennis has to contend with his exs smarmy new boyfriend (Hank Azaria) as well as a marathon to run. While he attempts to drop the fat and pick up his game, will Dennis finally cross the finish line and become the man nobody believed he could?

This was a charming film about learning to be responsible. Simon Pegg is right on-target, funny but still convincing in all the ups and downs of his character. Dylan Moran completely made this movie, adding just the right touch of screwball humour to make it an entertaining, feel-good film. I thoroughly enjoyed it and would definitely watch it again. It didn't quite have the artistic pizzaz that Pegg's last big film, 'Hot Fuzz', had, but writer/director David Schwimmer did a good job nonetheless. This film also boasted a great soundtrack, including the Envy Corps and the Kaiser Chiefs, and comes with my thorough reccomendation.
A good story with some good laughs. Light, enjoyable, feel-good fun. Its engaging and easy to watch. Really enjoyed Dylan Moran's character, but then again I just loved him in Black Books. Its' a good English version about that same old story of the loser who becomes the hero in the end. Much preferred to an American version. The kid is just great, a natural, and the loser is very, very likeable and you find yourself right behind him in his endeavour to right his wrongs with his ex. Just good fun.
