Professional photographer L.B. "Jeff" Jeffries breaks his leg while getting an action shot at an auto race. Confined to his New York apartment, he spends his time looking out of the rear window observing the neighbours. He begins to suspect that the man opposite may have murdered his wife. Jeff enlists the help of his society model girlfriend Lisa Freemont and his nurse Stella to investigate.
alfred hitch cock is an absolute genius, and he really proves that fact in the stunning rear window. a man who has broken his leg occupies his time by looking out of his apartment window at his neighbhours below, and one day witnesses what he thinks is a murder. excellent performances from all the cast, stunning movie
This is one of the best movies I own. It packs itself well with good classic acting, interesting and mysterious storyline and classic hitchcok thrill. I am always amazed that they pretty much filmed the whole movie from that apartment - talk about the perfect budgeted film. It also has that anticipation feeling that people look for in modern horror movies. It does show you that getting involved in your neighbors affairs can be dangerous but adventorous. I love this movie and give it 3 thumbs up. Definitely worth purchasing.
this is a real classic thriller. it is about a man who is in a wheelchair, and how he watches the neighbours for entertainment. he then sees what he thinks to be clues to a murder, and must decide what to do with his knowledge. this is a real classic, as the filming is done really well to convey the window etc.
This is an absolute masterpiece. The story centres around Greenwich Village in New York. James Stewart plays a photographer confined to his apartment after breaking his leg on an assignment. Grace Kelly plays his gorgeous socialite girlfriend, desperate to become his wife... but he's more interested in watching his neighbours across the courtyard. When he suspects one neighbour of murdering his wife, they become budding detectives and take us with them on a thrilling ride...
Classic Hitchcock - paranoid, voyeuristic, claustrophobic, with a great lead in James Stewart, a glowing heroine in the beautiful Grace Kelly, and a (possible) bad guy in Raymond Burr. Although the film has a very closed set feel, this only serves to ratchet up the tension as the story progresses - one of the master's best, to be sure...
this is a classic movie that everyone must see, for it inspired many a movie worldwide. this is about a man who can see numerous things of his neighbors thru hi s"rear window" and thinks that he witnesses a crime. this is thrilling viewing for anyone who is a fan of thise genre, and other movie in it. good watch!
A photographer with a broken leg sits in his rear window apartment. Bored he finds himself compulsively and obssessively watching his neighbors. Then one night he thinks he sees a murder. Flawless Hitchcock masterpiece is tongue in cheek playful, suspenseful and a wry reflection on humanity's inherent voyeristic tendancies.
