Being quite an old film i find it was a good job of creating the novel into a movie. It is an entracing story that you have to watch it all to find out what happens. I love that its australian but it was boring in parts.

a truely classic and revolutionary Australian film that delivers on so many levels. While it doesnt entirely hold up its brillance with respect to the features made today, its themes are still relevent and interesting and makes for a great film. Nice transfer also and a nicely polished audio track make this 2 disc set the best option for Picnic at hanging rock

a slow paced movie abotu the missing girls at hanging rock. was made to watch this for school and if you look hard enough symbolism is there but it is not important to the story line. i did nto like it but a story non the less that you coudl easly sit back and watch on a windy afternoon

Picnic at hanging rock did not live up to my expectations due to the fact that people had told me different things about it and that sort of ruined it for me but if you expect nothing it is a good film. to be honest i was a little spooked when the girls were in a "trance" so to speak. when they walked up the rock. There were elements of this movie that were great but i think it dragged it out a big too much, that was the main annoyance for me. Otherwise a great film based on a true story that really made me think..What happened out there....

Landmark Australian movie is based on the true story of the unexplained disappearance of a group of schoolgirls at the enigmatic Hanging Rock. Visually exquisite, haunting and tinged with a palpable sense of unease, it is a powerful and beautiful movie that raises lots of questions but wisely doesn't try to answer them all.

A rather haunting and chilling film said to be based on a true story. I watched this for the first time as a child and remember being really effected by it. With stunning scenery and endearing characters it's not hard to get into this gripping and mysterious plot. Although I enjoyed the book, I definitely preferred the film as it captured the mood and scenery a lot better.
