Meet Patch Adams (Robin Williams), a doctor who doesn't look, act or think like any doctor you've met before. For Patch, humour is the best medicine, and he's willing to do just about anything to make his patients laugh - even if it means risking his own career. Based on a true story, Patch Adams combines side-splitting humour with an inspiring story that transcends the traditional comedy.

this movie makes me cry every single time that I watch it. Its nice to know that there are still some good people out there. Robin Williams, who is one of the most talented actors that I think the world will ever know does a phenomenal job as the doctor(this is a based on a real story actually) Patch Adams. If you watch it be sure to have out some tissues and be prepared to be amazed! i definatley reccomend that everyone goes and gets it
I didn't enjoy this movie at all. I know it is based on a true story but I found it shallow and unbelievable. Robin Williams did not suit this semi serious role and the outcome of his girlfriend upset me. This is one of those movies that you can easily go through your life not seeing as you are not missing much.
Robin Williams is one of those actors who clearly has a lot of talent, but can't help but attach himself to bad projects, such as the pompous, overlong dross that is Patch Adams. Williams stars as a doctor who doesn't play by the rules - in that he's actually really nice to his patients. But it all degenerates into over-sentimentality pretty quick smart, and some two and half hours later you'll likely be asleep or wondering how on Earth someone thought to produce this film.
Heart warming story based on truth about one doctor who believes in laughter being the best medicine, and forming relationships with his patients. Robin Williams is perfect at playing serious when needed, while still being able to deliver the laughs. Patch Adams makes for a great nights viewing. Robin Williams at his best.
Now for me this movie started out great and I personnaly really liked this movie but it has a very sad piece in it that no girl will like, but believe me you will also fall in love with this movie as it is a heart warming movie about a doctor who remodels an old house and turns it into a free clinic and dreams of someday opening up his own free childrens clinic.
A great heart warming light comedy based on a true story of a clown doctor, he makes his patients laugh as laughter is the best medicine, It was a great movie and a must see no movie buffs collection is complete without a copy of Patch Adams, I will give it 5 stars as it is just such a great movie.
Robin Williams is one of those rare super successful comedians who can take a barebones script and fill it with all sorts of fun-ness, hilarity, and jovialocularity that soon, the barebones script transforms into a morbidly obese, oddly smelling dude who rings your doorbell at dinnertime on a weeknight and offers to cut your grass "for $10 less than the guy who's doing it now."
Patch Adams is almost the perfect Robin Williams vehicle. A more perfect vehicle for Robin would be some sort of school bus with him way in the back and a bunch of fabulous guys (pharmacuetical sales, commercial real estate or possibly children talent agents) talking on their cell phones and admiring their platinum bracelets that look so good with their slicked back hair. You know what I'm talking about. Well, that vehicle is driven by some sort of small monkey on a mountainous highway. And instead of paying attention to the road, the monkey is distracted by the glare of all the platinum bracelets and plunges into the Caspian Sea and all are lost. To me, that is the perfect vehicle for Robin Williams.
Most of Robin William’s movies are decent and this one is up there with the rest. He’s in pretty usual form with good humor and character. I’m not sure how accurate this movie is meant to be to the real story but if it is then there are some tragic events here too which are truly sad and disturbing. All in all though this is an inspiring movie.
Going to the doctor is routine for many, its not until you have a personal connection with your doctor that you look forward to your next check-up. If the choice was mine i would visit Patch daily, whether i was sick or not! I wish there weref more doctors like this guy!
A great movie! Robin Williams is brilliant as always. This movie is filled with plenty of laughs as expected with a Robin Williams film, but also some tears. This movie actually deals with some heavy issues but the laughter keeps it from being dull. It's what the whole film is about. Laughter.
