I really enjoyed this film, and thought Jodie Foster, once again, turned in a great performance as a divorced mother who is trapped with her teenage daughter in the 'panic room' while intruders try to get to them. Great moments of tension and a terrific pace make this psychological thriller a must see for all fans of the genre.
This story centers around a divorced woman in her 30's and her daughter, who are caught up in a cat-and-mouse game inside their new New York brownstone when three burglars come looking for a hidden cache of cash. Mother and daughter hide in the "panic room," a secret room designed for just such a purpose, but still end up fighting for their lives...
The premise is interesting however upon establishing that their is one, its quite obvious that the room itself is the 'star' of the movie. Foster is the only worthy actor - the predictability shows on the other actors strained faces. Nothing is much of a surprise and in some scenes its quite painful to watch.
However it was still an entertaining watch. For the price :)
Panic room is a kind of out there movie, I mean who has a panic room in their house made out of steel? Anyways, this family does and the movie is quite good full of suspense and good cinematics which is always a plus
One of the better Jodie Foster movies I have seen. After moving house and to a large city, a horendous home invasion takes place forcing mother and child to use the panic room for safety. I sat on the edge of my seat the whole way through. It was very intense and powerful.
this is a great movie about a woman and daughter, who are going through a rough patch and move house, which handily enough has a panic room which they soon need as people break into the house and want something. the whole thing is kind of weird, because they should be safe in the room, so no need for story at all, but apart from a few plot holes like that this was a good thriller.
This movie was really not all that, it wasnt bad and it wasnt good, its worth a watch and ive seen it twice now (with liek a year in between viewings) but still im not that impressed, i just didnt think the idea was all that, why not just give up what was in the room? that would have saved a whole lot of problems
Of course how many of us could afford a panic room? So with this film, we can live vicariously through Foster's character and her daughter as they make a stand against the intruders in their home. Fincher's direction is spot on terrific. He's a director who can evoke Hitchcock effortlessly, while never mimicking the master's style. The intricate camera work which pans over the elaborate and convincing sets may owe alot to digital magic, but it never looks synthetic.
This is one you'll watch again and again. It's full of great, well acted characters and the premise is irresistible. Highly recommended.
Great movie. Very scary at times and if you aren't claustrophobic yet you might be after watching this movie. Jodie Foster is great in the lead role. There are a few horrific scenes that I didn't enjoy but I generally thought this was a great suspense thriller and would recommended it to anyone who likes scary movies.
awww this movie frightened me it was just spooky. i was deffinalt on the edge of mt seat through out the whole film. the scene when the dad gets beaten up is truly horrfic and made me feel slightly ill. but apart from that this is a great thriller.
