I disagree with the above review (written 30/9/2009) stating this is not an adventure story...and BTW Totoro is not a bunny and he doesn't change into a bus! Have you ever watched the film? It appears not! It's a subtle and heartfelt tale of a family who move to the countryside while the girl's mother is ill in hospital with TB. When Mei goes to take granny's corn to her in hospital and goes missing the adventure begins! Totoro (a forest spirit) is called on to help her sister Satsuki (with the help of the cat bus too!). The animation and the story are exquisite. Right down to the smallest detail, the wheel of the postman's bike left spinning and the foxes in the shinto shrine near the bus stop. It is a film that can be watched over and over again - a true classic!

This is in my top ten favourite movies. It's so full of magic, possibility and beauty on so many levels. It made me look for magic in my own life again - at the age of 29. Whimsical, funny, uplifting and at times exciting in a completely non-threatening way, this movie should be used as a teaching aid in schools and prescribed for everything from anger management issues to depression.

An amazing movie. This anime is worth every dollar and is great not only for kids but adults too! The animations are so cute and the characters are just so likeable :D BUY IT NOW

if you are looking for a adventure story then this is not it, this is about a peacefull life with a cute little fat bunny next, and they love it because it takes the main character everywhere . and the main characters mum is in the hospital it takes them there. it can even change into a bus

If you are looking for an epic story - this ain't it. This is a story that isn't so much about anything really, it is more about the wonder of youth and active imaginations. It is a little story that takes its time to be told - it is as much about the beautiful imagery and the feelings of childhood wonder that it invokes as much as it is about anything else. And you know what? It works.
