Sato & Keiji are deeply in love but socially mismatched and to escape Keiji's disapproving mother they honeymoon in NZ. Keiji is inexperienced and in his frusatration finds it difficult to make love to Sato. Finally on an isolated NZ beach they fulfill their intense sexual passion. Tragically Keijidrowns and Sato takes his body back to Japan where she must confront Keiji's mother who blames her for son's death.

Driven to despair she returns to NZ and the cave where she and Keiji first made love. In her despair she strikes up a relationship with a local fisherman who helps reawaken her sexuality and is able to farewell the spirit of her lost husband.
