Martin Campbell sure knows how to make entertaining movies. After making "No Escape" and "GoldenEye" he brings us yet another entertaining movie; "The Mask of Zorro". He actually used to be one of my favorite directors after seeing those movies I just named but unfortunately he hasn't made anything good lately. Let's hope this change after completing "Zorro 2" that is currently being made.

"The Mask of Zorro" is just some good old fashioned fun with lot's of spectacular moments, good choreographed fight sequences, a love story and a good old fashioned stereotype villain.

The story is told in a good way which I think is mainly thanks to Campbell's directing. The pace is high and the combination between the action, the characters and their relations, romance and some of the comical moments is done very well, unlike some other movies from the same genre.

There is some nice cinematography that help to create a good atmosphere along with the musical score from James Horner. The end fight is good and it has a spectacular big explosion in it that'll make you go; Wow!

Great entertainment for the whole family.

This movie is hilarious. I have never laughed so much ever. It has great acting, affects, dialogue, and especially superb humour – everything you need in a great movie. The movie does have a few scenes that drag out but all in all it’s a must have for all comedy fans and is suitable for basically all ages. Buy it – You definitely won’t be disappointed :)

I always love Zorro and his hijinks and looked forward to watching this film. It was alright, not exactly breath taking but a decent flick that the family will love. Rather to much Hollywood for me, that is big on flashy action scenes but rather short of acting capabilities. Not a bad film for the cold winter afternoon with nothing to do.

This was a great movie, i love the way they created this. Antonio banderas really brought a comedy into this action. Its a great movie about wanting revenge and saving lives and falling in love. This movie gives you an insight to where the legend of zorro really began and how it continued to startle the lives of the people of the era and save the lives of the innocent. A great movie which you can't afford not to have. To conclude this great deal you definatly need the sequal - the legend of zorro, see the legend continue.

This movie is one to take you away to a whole new world of adventure... in the funniest possible way. Great for a laugh the whole family can enjoy this movie. Though the accents can be a little dodge at times you dont mind cause it adds to the atmosphere. Good for a rainy night in and a bit of fun.

this movie the mask of zorro has the famous scene where antonio banderas seemingly slashes the air in front of catherine zeta jones and her clothes immediately fall off seconds after wards. it is a hilarious romp and a pleasure to see antonio banderas at his physical best and most popular. worth a watch

for those of you that already own the Mask of Zorro on dvd there is no need to purchase this shoddy rerelease. The transfer and audio is the exact same, and yes all the extras, which are plentiful, are brought along too but the only new extras is a trailer and sneak peek for the Legend of Zorro which isnt worth it. Otherwise great film, great dvd

A pretty decent take on the Zorro story, definitely improved by the presence of Hopkins. Zeta-Jones accent is definitely pretty dodgy, but given in films like the Mark of Zorro they sound about as Spanish as someone from Milwaukee, that is not that big a deal. Zorro passes on his mantle to a young outlaw, who he must first discipline and train, before he can be a force for good in the region.

The Mask of Zorro brings to the screen the story of who else, but the well-known Mexican hero.
The setting is California in the transitional period following Spain's withdrawal from Mexico and Zorro, due to old age, can no longer defend the people against oppression and injustice. Subsequently, he needs to find someone to replace him or else the legend of Zorro will die with him...
The film combines romance, drama, and adventure in such a way that it spells success.
Moreover, the fascinating culture and traditions of pre-union California as well as the historical time period in question are presented very well in the film.
Needless to say, Anthony Hopkins, Antonio Banderas, Catherine Zeta-Jones, and the rest of the cast have truly outdone themselves with their performances, which are outstanding to say the least! All the actors, without exceptions, give it their 100%! Their great talent and chemistry clearly shows, thus providing an entertaining film that can be watched over and over again.
The setting, the dialogues, the music and the costumes are all wonderful!
Very well written and very well presented, it is a movie definitely worth watching, as it will surely put you in a good mood!

Really good movie, great casting of Hopkins, Zeta-Jones and Banderas; it's full of action, comedy and romance. There was a bit of a cheese factor in some places but it's the sort of film that most people will enjoy. A fun film that you won't get bored of and will leave you interested in the sequel.
