THE ORIGINAL FILM BASED ON ANDREW 'BANJO' PATTERSON'S EPIC POEM, THE MAN FROM SNOWY RIVER, HAS BECOME A TIMELESS CLASSIC OF AUSTRALIAN CINEMA, LOVED BY AUDIENCES WORLDWIDE. Such was the immense reaction to this definitive masterpiece, that producer Geoff Burrowes revisited the high country to complete the story of the man who became a legend. Tom Burlinson returns as Jim Craig, "the stripling on a small and weedy beast" who has been away droving the isolated plains to gather a huge mob of wild horses for breeding. Now he journeys back to his home in the rugged Snowy Mountains, ready to claim his heritage and take the hand of the only woman he has ever loved - Jessica (Sigrid Thornton). But fate will put many obstacles in his path to fulfilment.
Brought to life with a state-of-the-art digital restoration, The Man From Snowy River II can now be experienced like never before for this inaugural release on DVD. And for the first time ever, this breath-taking sequel has the ending always intended by the Director but changed at the last minute on request of the film's US theatrical distributor.

5 of 5 Stars! – Customer review on 17/01/2009

Great movie especially for the fact that this DVD version has the wedding scene that the American/Canadian DVD version does not have as well as being Anamorphic Widescreen, which the American/Canadian version isn't either.

The American/Canadian DVD version is called Return To Snowy River.

4 of 5 Stars! – Customer review on 07/05/2007

The original 'Man From Snowy River' was such an iconic Australian movie that it was always going to be a hard act to follow. Unfortunately I felt that Man From Snowy River 2 went the way of a lot of sequels and didn't quite manage to recapture the magic of its predecessor. Still, any time you get Sigrid Thornton or Tom Burlinson on screen, you're in for a treat. Having them there together makes this still one to watch.

5 of 5 Stars! – Customer review on 26/12/2006

This is such a gorgeous movie based in the Australian outback and high country. I just love the Australian dramas that appear to be so realistic and true to how the high country farmers live their lives. If you liked the first movie (I saw it as a mini series) you will thoroughly enjoy the sequel. It took a while to make this one, but well worth watching.

3 of 5 Stars! – Customer review on 11/12/2006

The Man From Snowy River II is based upon the return of Jim Craig to the Snowy River country after a three year absence. The film subtly tells a tale of change in the nineteenth century, of Australian history, legend and horses. The storyline demonstrates a touch of Hollywood in lighter shades, an aspect that was absolutely absent in the first film, yet this blends uniquely with the a distinct sense of Australian patriotism. The plot is far more vibrant than the first film, and much more showy, with particular aspects of the previous incorporated into the film, yet The Man From Snowy River II possesses every essential characteristic of the first film; sensationally beautiful cinematography, a stunning focus of the Australian high country, the second most impressive footage of horses ever filmed, and a fantastic and deeply moving soundtrack by Bruce Rowland which equals the first in every way. Geoff Burrowes has done a superb job with this film, and it is highly worthy of recognition, especially with regard to the quality of the Australian Film Industry. The lead cast, from Tom Burlinson to Sigrid Thornton, and a well-replaced Brian Dennehy, carry off their parts with as much passion and distinction as the first film. As far as sequels can go, The Man From Snowy River II is a masterpiece; a deeply moving and inspirational experience yet again.

5 of 5 Stars! – Customer review on 31/10/2006

Much better than the first movie, this movie follows Jessica and Jim as they continue their journery of love. Triumphing over adversities, the couple move to their own land and raise brumbies. Classic scenes like Jim's treacharous ride down the mountain keep your eyes glued to the screen. A must see for lovers of Australian drama.
