One word would sum up this movie: Brilliant. Well cast, and brilliantly directed by Sir (he wasn't a knight at that stage) Peter Jackson.
Based on the novel by J.R.R. Tolkein The Fellowship of the Ring (Part 1 of The Lord of the Rings) concerns a hobbit by the name of Frodo Baggins (Elijah Wood) who inherits his uncle Bilbo's (Ian Holm) house (and his magic ring) after he mysterously leaves in the middle of his 111th birthday. Turns out that the ring is not just a pretty object: it is in fact The One Ring cut from the hand of the Dark Lord Sauron himself.
This starts of a chain of events that finds our hero emabrking on a quest with the help of 8 companions to destroy the One Ring once and for all.
A wonderful movie in every way, featuring some stunning scenery of New Zealan's North and South Islands, and some beautiful music (thank-you Howard Shore!!) this is one movie (or series of) that you should definately watch.
Wow. This (and the other two-especially the last one) movie is amazing. The scenery is gorgeous (mostly because it's New Zealand's South Island), the cast are amazing (hats off to all of them) and Peter Jackson is a genius and so are WETA workshop (they made all the armour and the miniatures etc). If you get the chance watch the extended versions-they've got some really funny extras. Love the Easter Egg when Dominic Monaghan (he plays Merry in the films) fools Elijah Wood (Frodo) into thinking that he's a German reporter. and Sean Astin's short film The Long and the Short of It is rather good.
A must see for anyone! if you have not seen this get it now and start the trilogy off, make sure you have some time to spare and watch the full version as like the others in the series there's at least three hours worth of non stop entertainment. Great special effects and story line, as well as a perfect setting, New Zealand!
Ok, this movie has got some of the best special effects that I have ever seen. Nothing in it looks unrealistic and it has the most wonderful storyline and characters. I also loved the settings in which the scenes were shot. Magnificent backgrounds. I can't believe that the little hobbits village is actually real! They left it for a year after they'd made it to give it an overgrown and used look. If you have't seen this movie, watch it! ALso of course its going to be long - have you seen the size of the books and the stuff they have to cut out of it???
This is the original theatrical release of the film. I went to see it, and I really liked it so it gets 5 stars from me. But why anyone in the world would still want to see this rather than the even better extended edition I do not know. As far as I am concerned the extended edition is the real deal.
The Fellowship Of The Ring certainly has the WOW factor. What I like most is the fact that apart from the amazing special effects, there is heavy reliance on the quality of acting - you very rarely have both these days. Peter Jackson put New Zealand on the map with this, the first of the trilogy; but he also induced wonderful performances from his talented cast as well. This really was an epic in all aspects.
Who does not love the lord of the rings. This is the best movie ever and will be. Lord of the rings is a fantastic thrilling and outsanding movie out there. The movie has back then not well known actors but now they are pulling most of the movies. Elisha Wood plays a great roll of Frodo. Great movie very loveable a bit long but great.
the fellowship of the ring, the first installment of the lord of the rings trilogy definitely didnt dissapoint. the movie was great, as was the characters, storyline, quotes and the special affects were amazing. well worth the buy, a must buy for any lord of the rings fans! dont miss out on it
LORD OF THE RINGS! well i dont think you can say anything bad about this film! i live in newzealand and i am SO proud to be a newzealander! peter jackson did such a phenomenal job as director and together with all the talented actors and crew, they created the greatest series in history!! definatley go out and buy this cuz its such a good film
