Kate and her actor brother live in N.Y. in the 21st Century. Her ex-boy friend, Stuart, lives above her apartment and finds this space near the Brooklyn Bridge where there is a gap in time. He goes back to the eighteen hundreds and takes pictures of the place. Leopold, a man living in the 1870's, was puzzled by Stuart's tiny camera and decides to follow him and they both ended up in this century. Leopold is clueless about his new surroundings. He gets help and insights from Charlie who thinks that Leopold is an actor who is always in character. Leopold is a highly intelligent man and tries his best to learn and even improve the modern conveniences that he encounters.
A real sweetheart of a movie. Just enough sci-fi to make it interesting, some slightly pointed social commentary which is subtle enough not to be irritating, a little bit of comedy with some sly puns, and, of course, a charming romance for us ladies hehe. Seriously though, this is a fun film, definitely great for a night in with someone special. Doesnt take itself too seriously, well-acted, probably the quintessential romantic comedy. And come on - what girl doesnt dream about having the perfect Victorian gentleman rescue her on a beautiful white horse?!
This is a great film and a great romantic comedy. Hugh Jackman is perfect as the English gentleman taken forward in time. The story that unfolds from there is cliched but fantastic. You spend the entire film falling in love with Leopold and wishing Kate would see just how great he is. This is a rare gem that every fan of romantic comedied really must see.
this movie may have gotten a bit too much if it had just starred meg ryan, (her fake lips are getting a little too much) but hugh jack man makes this movie a gorgeous thing worth watching on a week end night. he plays a victorian (edwardian?) aged duke who accidentally ends up in modern day new york
the thing that makes this romantic comedy one worth remembering is the stunning performance hugh jackman makes. he is the ultimate gentleman, and his ability to effortlessly make the audience fall in love with is worth buying this dvd, one of my favorites for rlaxing to on a sat night
Hugh Grant is great as Leopold Alexis Elijah Walker Gareth Thomas Mountbatten, Duke of Albany, who is thrust forward in time from 1876 to the 21st century where he meets quirky Meg Ryan. The film shows us how good manners have died (mind you, so also has the Victorian patriarchy that dominated English life)... a fun rom com.. worth a look for a night in...
this is the truly delightful tale about a man called leopold, who manages to make it back in to present time. he then meets kate, who does not belive that he is from the olden days until he proves it to her. of course, they fall in love and he must decide what decade to live in. predictabel, but you know you love it.
this is a muste see movie for all those people who are fans of the romantic comedy genre! this will really delight them, as the storlyine is really charming! takes a man who is from the past accidentally ending up in the present. some wity and funny love scenes are a real joy to wacth. really enjoyable for all! great stuff!
i found that this movie was really entertaing! the concept was origianl, the acting was good and the humour was funny aswell! if you are a fan of meg ryan and/or hugh jackman then you will love this film. its a great romantic comedy fit for the whole family to watch together.
A guaranteed heart warming, even if it does rely on the audiences infatuation with Mr Darcy a tad too much. Yet this click flick should give your guys a hint or too on how to treat us woman, while providing sci-fi and comedic undertones. The casting is so good its easy to overlook the unlikeliness of all scenarios.
