Nine rare television performances by 'Trane' - the Jazz saxophone icon, shot in the late '50s and early '60s. Firing on all four, the giant John William Coltrane rips through solos with the effortless dexterity only a maestro of his art can muster. An historical document, these performances also feature other jazz legends; Miles Davis leads the band on four numbers, Eric Dolphy appears on Coltrane signature tune 'My Favourite Things', Gil Evans directs on a few numbers and long time collaborators Elvin Jones (drums), Jimmy Garrison (bass) and McCoy Tyner (piano) round out the personnel featured.
