Jesus of Nazareth, the son of God raised by a Jewish carpenter. Based on the gospel of Luke in the New Testament, here is the life of Jesus from the miraculous virgin birth to the calling of his disciples, public miracles and ministry, ending with his death by crucifixion at the hands of the Roman empire and resurrection on the third day.

Synopsis

The worlds greatest story seen from the eyes of the virgin Mary (Pernilla August) as she watches her infant son grow to manhood (Christian Bale stars as Jesus), inspiring the known world with his miracles and teachings on the world of God. The angel Gabriel visits the 16 Year old Mary and tells her that she has been chosen to give birth to the son of God. the child is born in Bethleham and so begins a very human and touching story of love, sacrifice and inspirational faith, highlighting a real mothers concern for a son who knows that he must die on the cross so he can be born again.
