Oh My Goodness this movie is so scary!! I watched it weeks before embarking on a trip around the world which in heinsight wasnt a very good idea! Really good though lots of gore, blood and guts and actually lots of twists and turns in the story line aswell. It was well acted sometimes horror movies can be very comical with bad acting and this was most certainly not. thumbs up one to watch but not before going travelling!!

Yuck! Im not a big fan of horror flicks. I just watched it to see if I could stomach it. I could because there wasnt as much blood and guts than I thought there would be, it was enough for me though. Pretty crappy storyline, but the thing that gets me is the fact that there are probably people out there that do this horrible stuff for fun/kicks. It just makes me more cautious if I ever go backpacking.

And that's what I think!!

Hostel... one of the worst try hard movies of all time. If you wanted to watch this with your girlfriend to scare her into your arms.. dont waste your time. This movie is boring has no real story thus no entertainment value. The torture scenes are overly done to the extreme which is the only reason this film made it to the cinema that and tarantinos name scratched on the promotional material.

I like a rip-roaring horror movie as much as the next guy, but this one just didn't do it for me. It certainly felt like it hit all the necessary marks, from nudity and dismemberment to bloody revenge, but at the conclusion, it just felt like eating cotton candy - no real nutritional value, just a sense that I had satisfied some of my prurient appetite without any logical payoff.

The movie was slow in getting started and then the sprinted to a singularly boggling ending. I walked out of the theater asking, "What was the point of all that?" And while this is described as horror, it really should be classified as thriller. There was no explanation or clever twist at the end. Just the end. I'm sure that it will attract an enthusiastic audience of young adults, but the evisceration by the critics will stem any hopes of huge box office.

If your expectations are low enough, and your tastes in gore sufficiently robust, then you are in for a good time. Otherwise, skip this and see a classic Hitchcock film. You'll feel better about yourself.

hostel is i think is morbid. im sorry but this film is not even good a story, people just wanted to watch it because of the fact QUENTIN TARINTINO put his name on it. hostel is just disgusting and if they want to be more like SAW which they wer trying to copy, they should make a better story plot.
plus theres a hostel 2 comin out! ugh

A boring plot, minimal gore, plot similarities to a few comedies...

This is not an exploitation flick people

stop treating it like one. I have seen far worse, this is not disturbing (even though the acting is rather good), the gore is noticably fake and doesn't get any more extreme than somebody being burnt with a blow torch, compare that to the guy in cannibal ferox who is brutally casturated, has his hand hacked off then gets scalped and has his brains eaten.

In reality this is pretty tame.

Hated by the majority of the type of people that should have loved it, Hostel reminds one of the Saw films, despite having quite different storylines. Filled with gore and nasty moments, Hostel's main flaw is that it takes a while to get going, and has far too much pointless nudity to be excepted.

I found this movie to be somewhat of a disappointment as an avid horror fan.
Eli Roth is extremely talented and perverse, and it shows in this feverish flick that will give you nightmares
Some of the scenes were unrealistic, the plot was very transparent.
Worth a look.

Paxton, Josh and Oli are backpacking across Europe when they are told about a hostel in Slovakia. Once they hear that this hostel is infested with beautiful European woman who only want tourists, they quickly get on a train to the wonderful promise land. As soon as they get there, they start having the time of their lives. Soon after they arrive, they slowly start to realize that this hostel is hiding a terrible and dark secret.

A new concept of killing people.
Take "backpackers" for rich twisted people who will pay thousands of dollars for the thrill of killing a real human.Make it a small european country so no one really notices.
All in all i found it rather dull for the first half if not longer.The story is slow to start and slow to pick up so you might as well skip into the film abit and not worry about missing anything.Quinten has got his name on this film but did not direct it,he mearly presented this film because he liked it and put a some of money into making the film.So in your deciding on whether to buy,you need to know he did not make this film.
