Billy Connelly plays John Brown, who really has no respect for the monarchy but is Queen Victoria's personal horseman (for want of a better description) He goes out of his way to protect her privacy while she is still in mourning for her husband. Their friendship raises some eyebrows, especially when the Queen becomes more and more reclusive, and seemingly more separated from her subjects. One of those movies about unlikely friendships built on trust and respect for each other. A nice movie, no violence, bad language and sex scenes. A good historical movie, I enjoyed it and recommend it for anyone interested in the personal side of British history
Her Majesty Mrs Brown is a great film, it features Billy Conolly and Judi Dench among others who put in splendid performances which make this film realistic and enjoyable. I loved the film and I'm not normally a Billy Conolly fan. The story libe was good but not enthralling. Somewhat lacking in the climactic build up or any build up at all it was still a good representation of Victoria and her servants.
