disregarding my utter disgust for john voight (if any one should play the immortal character in mitch albom's stunning second novel, it should not have been him) this is a fairly faithful and reasonably good adaptation of the novel. read the novel five people you meet in heaven first, then watch this

what a fantastic movie!!! very thought provoking, making you think about how you treat the people you may meet every day. it was in keeping with the book, which i have also read. usually i am disappointed about how the movie versions relate to the book, but this was the most accurate representation i have seen from a book to movie.

Although this movie sticks close to the book and the point being extrpolated, the storyline leaves you wondering why Heaven is merely people interacting rather than God-centered. The movie connects some adequate actors in some monotonous dialogue and you feel like you would have been better off stopping with reading the book. Of course, Im sure producers thought they could take a popular book and make it inspiring on film, but it barely does that. Stick with the book
