Peter Peter Cavier Eater When Lois' wealthy aunt dies unexpectedly, the Griffins inherit her extravagant mansion. Although his family doesn't want to relocate, Peter is eager to enter the ranks of the upper classes and moves onto the estate. Caught up in the spirit of his new social standing, Peter bids ten million dollars at the Historical Society for a work of art, offering to trade his mansion for the piece. It is revealed, however, that the mansion used to be a whorehouse and is not worth any significant amount. A commoner once again, Peter finds that his family still loves him.
Running Mates Lois decides to run for the school board and runs unopposed until Peter joins the race in order to get his favourite teacher reinstated. He immediately starts spreading lies about Lois and shows sexy photos of her. His tactics work and Peter is elected. Ultimately, his new policies backfire when Peter allows Chris to bring porno nuts to school and protests erupt. Peter must publicly apologise in order to win Lois back and save face with the town of Quahog.
Holy Crap Peter's dad is forced to retire from the mill. A stern workaholic, the elder Griffin does not take retirement well, so Peter and Lois suggest that he come spend some time with them. Peter's dad is also a control freak telling the children what TV shows they can watch, Peter how to spend his free time and Lois how to raise the kids. Peter decides that the best way to get closer to his father is to bring him along to the toy factory, but this plan also backfires. Peter's boss is impressed by the retiree's work ethic and hires him as a foreman, ensuring widespread misery at the plant. Peter is desperate to make him quit, and tries to convince him to participate in a plot to kidnap the Pope.
If I'm Dyin, I'm Lyin' When Peter's favourite show, "Gumbel 2 Gumbel", faces cancellation, he fakes drastic measures to save it. Using Chris as bait for ''The Make-A-Dream-Come-True" Foundation, Peter fells them That Chris' dying wish is that the show be renewed. But when the Foundation arrives to check up on Chris' "tumoursyphillis- itis-osis" Peter panics and tells them that Chris was miraculously cured. Word spreads of the ''miracle'' and Peter becomes the "Miracle Healer of Quahog". When the Griffins become mysteriously plagued by everything from locusts to bloody bathwater, this forces Peter to end the charade.
Love Thy Trophy When their Who's the Boss float takes top prize in the Quahog Harvest-Day Parade, the neighbourhood literally goes to war over who gets custody of the trophy. Meanwhile, in an effort to get big tips at her new waitressing job, Meg tells customers that Stewie is her illegitimate crack baby. When family services investigates, and finds the Griffin home in the middle of a war zone, they take custody of Stewie. Once everyone finds out that Stewie's in-foster care, the neighbourhood declares peace and plots a rescue mission.
Death is a Bitch After Lois discovers a lump in Peter's breast, he lands in the hospital. He's okay, until the whopping bill arrives! To avoid payment, Peter fools the hospital into thinking he's dead. As a result, Death pays a visit to the Griffin home. While Stewie is excited to meet his idol, the rest of the family doesn't want Peter to go-especially Peter! A chase ensues and Death is injured. While he recuperates, Peter is forced to take over Death's unpopular duties.
The King Is Dead Lois is named the new artistic director of the Quahog Players Theatre group and decides to direct The King and I as her first production. Peter wants to be a star and becomes such a nuisance that Lois makes him a producer to get him out of her hair. He goes on a major power trip and soon wrestles total control away from Lois, kicking her off the production team all together! Peter soon realises his vision by turning the musical into a racy cyborg battle, complete with bikini-clad dancing girls.

I cannot even begin to discuss how ridiculously smart and outrageously funny is this show. Not only does this program far surpass most of the comedies on television, it has the guts to hit topics that most of the overly sensitive public shies away from. I never understood why it was taken off the air in the first place. Fox can show something as tawdry and humanly degrading as Temptation Island, but Family Guy was too racy? Riiiight.
I absolutely must comment on the incredible voice talent done for this show, most especially the amazing creator himself, Seth MacFarlane. First of all, his versatility is unlike anything I have ever heard. When I discovered how many voices he actually performed, I was floored. I am currently receiving my masters in speech pathology so I find his ability particularly interesting. Not only can he speak in these individual voices, he can sing in them, and very well I might add.
The musical numbers in this cartoon revive a dying art. The "Road" episodes are a hysterical throw back to the Crosby/Hope movies, which is a reference I usually have to explain to my friends though they often must explain a few that I miss. In fact, the scope of the references range from cheesy 80's TV to political commentary to Broadway. This is why everyone will find something funny about this show. Everyone in one form or another can relate to it.
Most of my guy friends think I should be offended by the show because I am a woman and this is a "guy's show." Let me tell you, this is not the case at all. Lois Griffin is a freakin role model. I like to think I have half of her savvy when dealing with my ignorant boyfriends.
Absolutely excellent television. Edgy, funny, intelligent and extremely creative. This show was a breath of fresh air for mundane television and will soon awaken the network again. Seth MacFarlane, you are a genius!!

In the great tradition of such shows as The Simpsons and Futurama, here is another cartoon that is squarely aimed at the non-children market. It really is just a barrel of laughs, but if you are looking for highbrow humour than you might as well pass this one up - it doesn't take a genius to get these jokes.

WOOOHOOO man I love Family Guy! In my opinion this season (season 1) is the best because the humour is still relatively clean and not just boob jokes and things as is par in the later series. My favourite episode in this season is the one where Death comes to stay with them!

MY favourite cartoon by a long way, very funny, season 1 isn't the best season of family guy, but it sure is up there. Peter is my favourite charachter, for some strange reason people like Stewie more, but peter is just so stupid it's funny. Some good celebrity parodies, anybody looking for a laugh should buy this and the other 4 seasons, or just watch every single episode on television.
