This film shows the power of reality TV. based upon a wanner be older brother wanting to be on reality TV, shy, boring brother (Matthew McConnaghey) is given the role to be the star. Funny in parts, but it descends into romantic comedy dross. I must say though... Woody and Matthew really do look like brothers, not really my cup of tea.
Released around the time reality TV was first becoming a pop culture staple, this is a film about a man (Woody Harrelson) who tries to get on one such show, but is passed up for his much more shy, boring brother (Matthew McConnaghey). Funny in parts, but it descends into romantic comedy dross. I must say though... Woody and Matthew really do look like brothers.
This was a pretty funny movie about a guy who auditions for a reality TV show and wins the part but doesn't realise what he's actually getting himself into. Ed tries to go about his daily life but realises he has to do everything now with a camera filming him constantly and it affects people around him who either try to get popular on his show or try to get away from it. Once the novelty wears off the popularity of the show ultimately affects his relationship with his girlfriend and after a while Ed finds out that the TV show producers are controlling his life and he needs to find a way to escape that so you do feel bad for him. There are some pretty funny moments here though as in when Elizabeth Hurley's character seduces him and the cameras try to film them having sex and it all goes wrong. This movie is pretty fun and worth a look.
