The Great War is over and a long-awaited engagement is on, but all is not tranquil at Downton Abbey as wrenching social changes, romantic intrigues, and personal crises grip the majestic English country estate for a third thrilling season. As other great houses are crippled psychologically and financially in the wake of World War I, Robert, Earl of Grantham, sticks to his duty to maintain Downton more firmly than ever. But in this changing landscape nothing is assured, and could it be that even the war-weary Crawleys must fight a new battle to safeguard their beloved Downton?
Very disappointed to find that though this was sold as Season 3, I have missed the final two episodes shown on the T.V. I feel 'jipped' and only learnt about the 'missing' two episodes when another disappointed purchaser of your discs watched the TV programmes.
I have to say that this series was a slight disappointment and rambled on and really went nowhere. The issue of women's rights and the disgrace shown about the maid turned prostitute in earlier series was over the top compared to the gay butler saga that barely raised an eyebrow. There were no real surprises even with the tragedy at the very end, plus a very fast developing and low key birth,( actually had to go back to see if it was revealed in the previous series)The show ended with no big wow, nothing to entice it back. Will need to pick up the pace a bit to get it off for another season.
