This spellbinding movie does for the oceans what'Travelling Birds' did for the skies.'Deep Blue' plunges you into the spectacle of the seas and takes you on a journey from shallow coral reefs to the barren shores of the Antarctic, from vast stretches of open ocean to the nocturnal landscapes of the ocean's deepest chasms. The film was shot in more than 200 locations around the world over five years and with camera crews descending as far as 5,000 metres in the most powerful submersible craft known. In celebrating the ecology, tenacity, diversity and beauty of ocean life,'Deep Blue' transcends the genre of nature documentary to become something entirely new. Featuring a lush George Fenton score performed by the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra and narration by actor Michael Gambon,'Deep Blue' is a hypnotic, dramatic and trailblazing voyage into a magical, mesmerising and vanishing universe. The oceans are the last frontier on our planet - and'Deep Blue' is the definitive exploration of that frontier. It is a truly powerful reminder of the marine wonders that few can ever experience first-hand. A truly amazing and visually stunning experience,'Deep Blue' is a film that will delight all ages and like'Microcosmos' and'Travelling Birds', is an awe-inspiring and surprisingly emotional experience.

Forget outta space if only there was more money spent on exploring the deep dark depths of the oceans of the world. There are some of the most beautiful and some of the most bizare looking creatures found under the sea and many are featured on this beautifully shot DVD.
This DVD looks at all manner of marine creatures from dolphins and whales to polar bears, to jelly fish and squid and funky little critters.
There is some amazing footage on this DVD and there isn't the boring droning on of David Attenborough.
A great DVD to sit down and watch and also just to have on as a background on your TV as many do with those aquarium and fireplace DVDs.
This is a boring nature doco, but an insight into a world that we truly know very little about. We know about whales and other creatures close to the surface, but many people don't know about those that dwell in the darkest and coldest place on earth.
Everyone should see this DVD young and old.
I loved this documentary. My partner said "More, I want more ..." after it finished. This documentary was filmed in more than 200 locations around the world including Antarctica (-60 degrees!). Highly recommended!!!
i have always been fascinated by the sea and the creatures that dwelled withen it but i never knew there were so many untill i watched this film. It was interesting to see all the creatures in their natural habitat especially those newly discovered species. I reccomend it to those who are interested in marine biology or anything to do with our many oceans.
