A young female nurse named Anna is caught in the middle of a world-wide chaos as flesh-eating zombies begin rising up and taking over the world and attacking the living. She escapes into the streets and is rescued by a black police officer, named Kenneth. Together they find shelter in a mall along with a group of other survivors. For a while everything is ok, but pretty soon, they start running out of food, the power goes out, and the dead keep finding ways to break through their defenses. Realizing they're sitting ducks, they make a plan to head for an island by using two armored mall shuttle busses to get across the sea of zombies.

A great re-make of the original with plenty of action (= gore and the like!), to keep even the most hardened horror-file on the edge of their seat!!
Although by no means the first on-screen jobs for the likes of Jake Webber (Medium), Mekhi Phifer (Lie to Me) and Ty Burrell (Modern Family), 'Dawn of the Dead' may just have helped them on with their recent successes on the small screen.
This 'Director's Cut' is by far the best version to get with many hours of extras and deleted scenes...
BTW, Vanessa Amorosi (of 'Absolutely Everybody', 'Shine', 'Mr. Mysterious' & 'Hazardous' fame) rates this as one of her fav's also ;)
I love zombie movies and this one is my absolute favourite. The actors are so awesome, the zombies are scary and there's even a slight bit of humour chuck into the mix. Terrifying to think how quickly zombie-ism can take over the world. What would you do?
Tense, bloody, funny and smart; lacks original's conscience, but it's still a surprisingly gritty remake. The first 10 minutes are as good as anything I've seen this year --alas, the rest is best viewed late on Friday night after a crap day at work and several beers.
Ana, a young beautiful nurse finishes her day-shift at the hospital to return home to her beloved husband, they make love and sleep together. The next day, after her husband is killed by her neighbor next door, he suddenly comes back to life. She discovers the chaos happening in her neighborhood and escapes from her home. Soon after coming to her senses in the woods, she encounters a cop and other survivors, they decide to find safety in a mall. Soon more survivors come, and they learn that if they want to stay alive, they should stick together as the world is overrun by an army of undead. Can they survive the horror in this horrific global chaos? When there is no more room in hell, the dead will walk the earth
It is rare these days for a remake to be better than the original, gone is most of the imagination of hollywood. The 2004 version is far more action packed and thrilling than the original, and is one of the best zombie flicks out there. A group of people are trapped in a shopping mall as zombies build up outside trying to get in. They must use their wits to try and escape to a place where zombies can never reach them.

An extremely good remake of the original Romero zombie classic. So good in fact I prefer it over the original.
There are more than a few heart stopping moments and, in good zombie tradition a few funny ones to boot. All in all one of the best zombie movies available.
Another great classic zombie move redone, keeping the flow of all zombie movies except giving some the extra agility most zombies don’t have. The movie was well done with a great storyline and an inconclusive ending, although this may annoy some it didn’t for me. If you like your zombies by the truckloads then this is the movie for you, with hundreds of ‘extras’ becoming zombies in seconds.
this was a great remake, one of the better zombie movies, whilst most are silly and tacky, this is a quality zombie movie, of course you have to like the zombie genre or don't bother, there is a couple of laughs and lots of good actions scenes and a few thought provoking moments, I thought this was really well done, normally you would expect a b grade movie for this type of movie but this is really good.
I love zombie movies and this is the best one I have seen with a good amount of gore and great characters. I have not seen the old Dawn of the Dead but I heard its very funny nothing like this one.
