Along with The Labyrinth, this was in my top 2 movies as a kid growing up in the 80s. Jim Hensen was a true genius and long may his legacy survive. As an adult, it still rates among my favourite all-time movies. So imaginative, scary, magical and wonderful! Great for 5-10 year olds, although the littlies might find it a bit frightenting in places. (The skeksies are truly horrible)
The bland computer-generated kids' movies of today have nothing on this all-but-lost art form. You can just see the love, dedication and imagination that went into The Dark Crystal. A film to treasure and marvel at.
This is a great family movie, for young and old alike! Accompanied with a good music score, it has a decent storyline and your typical good vs evil battle.
An excellent addition to the works by Hensen, it keeps a good pace as the story unfolds
