This new show is fantastic. The characters - whilst having the degree of mystique, unattainability and 'fantasy-like-lives' that we all love to see when kicking back with a good TV show - are still well-rounded and somehow real. The viewer ends up feeling like they know these people, and you either want to be them, be their friend or just hit them really hard. The lines between good & bad are blurred in this series, and viewers will find themselves switching sides often. This world feels like it really exists, which it probably does. There is also a very high hotness-factor for both male and female viewers that will keep this show replaying in your head (or at least certain scenes of it) well after the DVD player, and the lights, have been turned off. There are elements remeniscent of the OC in here, so it really isn't difficult to tell that the creator was also the creator of that 4-season fizzle ... but the concepts which were successful in that show have been taken to a new level here, and the fizzers have been dropped. Most notably, the casting is much better ... the good girl/bad girl Marissa character from the OC is represented here by Sarina - but for starters they have an actress with talent in this role, and more than one facial expression and voice tone. The OC character of Summer is copied in this series with Blair - but the bitch factor is taken to new heights with great success and realism. I'm definitely one fan who is hanging out for the second season!!! "xoxo Gossip Girl"
Purchased this for Xmas for my teenage daughter, she loved it..great for the holidays and lazy days. She is now eager to watch series 2!!!On her standards she would rate this series excellent!
Even though we are near the 40 age group my husband and i have really enjoyed this series! Lots of lessons and interesting ways different people live in our world. Lots of fun and quite morish..
alothough i have seen gossip girl on telly, i could not resist the temptation of buying it online. I watched the whole season within one night, pretty much because i could not close my eyes, and miss out on the non stop each of the seat teenage drama series. it was in excellent condition and i enjoyed the series to the maximum of my ability. so yeah buy it it was awsoommme .xxxxxxxxxx…xxxxxxxxxx
The most insightful show into the lives of New Yorks most treasured personalities. Everyone wants to be them and everyone wants to know them. The friendships, the relationships, the love and the back stabbing leaves the viewer gripped from the first episode to the very last episode and longing for the next season.
I must admit, Gossip Girl is my guilty pleasure. I have never missed an episode! Full of twists and turns and drama! I found the OC painful to watch so I was surprised when I really got into this show. Though aimed at a younger crowd, I know people of all ages who enjoy it. I cannot wait for season 3 to start!
I love Gossip Girl. It's like The O.C. in its prime first season, mixed with The Hills, but without the cheesiness. Great fashion in the show too. America's only just falling in love with the second season.
Very different in content and style from the books, but still a great series in its own right. The character interactions are always fun - even if Serena and Dan's intended leading romantic storyline was completely overshadowed by the Blair and Chuck Show - the music is good, and the outfits are fantastic. Everything is so far over the top, it's just great fun to switch your brain off and unwind to.
Yep, this show has all the goods. Sure, it's a bit OC moved to Manhattan, richer, bitchier and better dressed but it's also got tighter storylines, more characters and a better feel to the filming. The older dynamic is also still there with Serena's Mum and Dan's Dad (holy heck, imagine being that couple) and Kristen Bell's voice brings it all together. And let's face it - Blair is the girl we all love to hate, but secretly want to be!!! And Chuck... ah, chuck. He is the most interesting character there is on the show.
