In the Cro-Magnon age when homosapiens walked briefly with earlier species of man, a band of cave-dwelling Neanderthals adopt blond and blue-eyed Ayla, a child of what they term the "Others". As she matures into a young woman of spirit and courage (unlike other women of the clan), her intelligence sets her apart from the rest and she must fight for survival against the jealous bigotry of Broud, who will one day be clan leader.

it follows Ayla a young girl who is seperated from her family by an earthquake and ends up with the the last of the old people, she is very different from this old race and only an old medicine woman keeps her alive, really clever, very interesting, see old rituals and believes, hunts and magic, it may not seem like much, the movie doesn't do just to the book though.
This is an absolutely fantastic movie. It's a pure evolution of the genre the director has been honing over the years, and is a testament to their continued artistry. I would definitely recommend this to anyone who liked their previous films, this would be the best audience for this amazing product.
