This is a really great film, I loved it a lot as did my family. It's about a music teacher who goes to a tough orphanage/centre for boys in France. The children are all rebellious and neglected, however he forms them into a choir and uses music to gradually break down their defences, give them self-esteem, etc. He is particularly interested in two boys, one who is a musical genius, and another who is extremely young and really sees him as a father figure. Very touching story with great acting including by the kids, and amazing music and singing (done by a youth choir in France).

An Oscar nominee for Best Foreign Film, this heartwarming French-language drama tells the tale of an inspiring teacher. The story is set in post-World War II France at a school for troubled boys where the headmaster is quick to mete out physical punishment. But Clément Matheiu (Gérard Jugnot), a middle-aged newcomer to the school staff, takes a different approach with the unruly boys: he secretly involves them in singing in a chorus.

Think this is just another teacher-ta…s-students kind of a story? Well think again. Les Choristes is so much more than that. The stunning characters and exquisite soundtrack make this a must-see movie (but be warned, it is entirely in French).

This film is a triumph. Despite the fact that it is entirely in French it is oneof the best movies I have ever seen. It centres around the prefect of Fond L'tong a French reform school. The prefect, a fanatical musician, forms a choir from the boys he is teaching and showcases them to the patrons of the school in a triumphant scene that makes your eyes welle up. If there is a better foriegn language film you'll be hard pressed to find it. This film is perfect.
