One of the worst films I have ever seen!!! The film, even though it had a good intention of trying to teach children about the being good etc. it seems way over the top!!! The acting was creepy, especially Willy Wonka played by Depp (this is not a Pirates performance, be warned), and the songs were really boring. Luckly I watched this on DVD so I could mute songs, because they seemed extremely silly. The fact about this film is that it is bloated, and random, the first section was good, but after they went inside the factory everything feel apart. I personally doubt that even todays kids would like this film, as it seems silly, and as it is predictable, and somewhat a lame, and mediocre attempt to try to make todays children better. I not only hate the film, but I also hated the book as well. on top of the film. However the older version was somewhat better than this film.

This is an amazing movie. The chocolate factory just looks so beautiful in this movie. This movie is a new improved version of the older one and I must say there have been some changes. I didn't particularly like the parts of the movie where Willy Wonka was missing his dad. But other than that I think this was great movie.
Young children will especailly like this movie and the songs and dancing.
I think everone will love this movie and will want to watch it over and over again.

The only word that can accurately describe this movie is...trippy. Or possibly psychedelic. A bizarre and slightly frightening reinterpretation of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, this is definitely not as good as the one with Gene Wilder, but it does have its high points - the most significant of which being the performance of Johnny Depp as Willie Wonka. He has certainly made the part his own, in a highly original (and demented) fashion. An enjoyable watch, but not perhaps one to keep.

Like a lot of people who loved the original Charlie and the Chocolate factory I didn't like this one nearly as much. One of the best things about the original was the songs, none of which were in this version. All new songs, the oompa loompas were all played by the same actor, whom I didn't like, Johnny Depp wasn't nearly as much fun and was a little spooky. Buy the original instead.

A rather bizzaar adaption to the all time childrens classic Willy Wonka and the chocolate factory. Johnny depp added in a crazy and creepy look to willy wonka. This movie did however explain what happened to the kids lost throughout the movie - which the first make didn't. It was a little more magical, but alot more fake than the first. The music didn't bring the ompa loompas any light either. It was fairly obvious that the creators were trying to add in music from this day and age - not something that was very good for this type of movie. Over all - not one for the book, but certainly a different view.

Whilst even in title being closer to the book, this new film adaptation of the children's classic story left a bitter taste in my mouth.
I am a huge fan of Johnny Depp, although I don't like the creepiness he bought to the role.
All other vital components from the book were here, where they were absent from the original.
I found the original to be gay & merry (like many musicals were), but this one was some what ominous. I guess I would have to give this version another once over to get a final verdict.

Tim Burton's adaptation is a lot closer to the book, with Johnny Depp giving the character of Willy Wonka a different characteristic. Funny at times, yet creepy at others, this remake is a lot different to the original. Apart from the Oompa Loompa songs the rest are gone, some may find this a disappointment, others a blessing. The Oompa Loompas themselves are a disappointment - they are all the one person digitally made to look like dozens of them. The main problem with this film is that it is just too reliant of special effects; using them often when not needed.

You will either love or hate this film. Willy Wonka is very uncomfortable to watch - and is almost verging on evil. The children are much more manipulative than in the original - and the whole film has a very dark feeling to it. It is not the inncoent story that the first film was. I still don't know if I like it - but think its such a classic you need to make up your own mind.

I hated IT! The original was just so much better, this one may not be out dated but it just can not compete with the original, It was so boring, and the characters were nothing like the original you can not take a classic master piece and change things all over so it just almost follows the plot of the original, that is just stupid, why they would ruin the greatest movie of all time I have no idea but this was just horrid.

Much truer to the book the the older Charlie and the Chocolate factory - and while this doesn't necessarily make it better it is a very good film. Mr Willy Wonka (Johnny Depp) is a little...well, crazy...often even in a slightley satirical way - which is good for a laugh at times. The oompa-loompas as always entertain us with their singing and dancing and the characters are stereotyped and therefor amusing. Lovely use of bright colours and music - all in all a pretty good film. 7 out of 10
