Master Thief Lupin III, a.k.a. "The Wolf," and his right-hand gunman Jigen are hot on the trail of a double-crossing counterfeiter. this is a fun animation film co-written and directed by hayao miyazaki. it is one of the first that he directed, and we can see some of his style of animation popping up throughout the movie, though the original characters, manga, tv series and stories are by monkey punch. lupin the 3rd is a cheeky, smart thief with a conscience, who, wth his gang - fujiko, goemon and jigen are always evading the bumbling inspector zenigata as they look to steal treasures. it`s comic, action-packed and romantic - like a good old hollywood action movie - though the music makes it obvious that it`s a little dated.

I love Miyazaki's anime, the animation is always amazing, the plot and story lines are always of a great depth, covering many social and environmental themes. He is the master of anime and no Miya film will disappoint. If you are new to the genre the work of this master is a great place to start. This one is fantastic. Princess Mononoke is also by Miyazake if you get bitten by the anime bug.
