From director Brad Silberling andSteven Spielberg's Amblin Entertainment comes a live-action fun house ride filled with laughter, excitement and ghostly surprises.
"Ghost therapist" Dr. James Harvey (Bill Pullman) and his daughter Kat (Christina Ricci) arrive at drafty, old Whipstaff Manor. Its greedy owner, Carrigan Crittendon (Cathy Moriarty), has hired Dr. Harvey to exorcise the house's apparitions: a friendly but lonely young ghost named Casper, who's just looking for a friend, and his outrageous uncles Stretch, Stinkie and Fatso (The Ghostly Trio). If the plan works, she and Dibs (Eric Idle), her partner-in-slime, can get their hands on the manor's fabled treasure. Meanwhile, Casper has found a kindred spirit in Kat, but The Ghostly Trio will not tolerate "fleshies" intheir house.
With hilarious antics and dazzling special effects from many of the creators ofWho Framed Roger Rabbit andJurassic Park,Casper is a mile-a-minute adventure comedy for the whole family.

This is a great movie, and you won't go wrong getting this one. Whilst it may scare the really younger children a little, it doesn't have any really scarey parts for the older age-group (10 or so and up), and is a funny and sad little tale that will make you fall in love with Casper all over again.

I have this movie at home and think it is so great. It is funny, sad and stuffed up all at the same time.
Casper is such a sweet ghost that has to put up with alot from his 3 uncles so when they have a father and daughter move in to their house that they haunt Casper makes it his business to befriend Kat (the daughter).
Having Casper as a friend Kat finds that the house isnt so bad.
Great movie that should be seen by all.

The live action movie version of the friendly ghost has a good cast and a tight script, with CGI that suits the film well, so it doesn't look dated by today's standards. The only problem with this film is that Casper has always been portrayed as a ghost, where as in this kids movie he is referred to as a "dead kid." The entire film is really about a boy who died, not really the sort of subject for a kids flick. This isn't going to affect a child's enjoyment, but I remember when Casper was a happy friendly ghost, not a dead kid trying to come back to life.

I remember seeing this when I was just a little girl and I still love it as much now as I did then. Filled with heart-warming characters and memorable performances, you'll be glad that you saw this movie. Casper is the lonely ghost of a little boy who once lived in the mansion with his family. Now, all he has left are his three ghostly uncles who seem to enjoy making life (or death) torture for him. But when an equally lonely young girl named Kat moves into the mansion with her father, ghost therapist Dr. James Harvey, Casper sees the beginning of a beautiful friendship. Not one to miss out on.

this casper movie is a real classic, as who doesnt love to see the cutest and nicest ghost ever, casper! this movie does tend to make me a bit sad though, as his mean uncles really pick on him, which i dont like to see. nice to see him get some revenge at the end tho. this is good to show kids because it shows them that ghosts- if real- are nothing to fear.

Who says there are no such things as ghosts? Not if there is the ghostly inhabitants of Whipstaff Manor in Friendship, Maine! This desolate mansion is then, in the words of one of the members of the Ghostly Trio of Whipstaff, 'intruded' by Kat Harvey (Christina Ricci) and her eccentric father Dr. James Harvey (Bill Pullman), a ghost therapist. Carrigan Crittenden (Cathy Moriarty) had hired Dr. Harvey to exorcise the ghosts, including Casper the friendly ghost and his three obnoxious uncles, Stretch, Fatso and Stinkie, aspiring to gain Whipstaff's 'buried gold'.
Intertwining humour, all-time fun and a modern Cinderella story, 'Casper' promises to please as a movie which is compelling, hilarious, captivating, heart-warming, witty and above all, truly 'fleshtastic'.
'Casper' is recommended for any audience, regardless of age. At the time I am submitting this review I am currently 17, turning 18, but 'Casper' still manages to appear endearing and ultimately special. The magic of Bill Pullman, Christina Ricci as well as that of director Brad Silberling, executive producer Steven Spielberg, and other producers weaves between each and every scene to eventually lift us off our feet. Above all, I LOVE THIS MOVIE! Casper is my all time favourite character. Truly fantastic. You won't BOOlieve it until you see it.
