The Man... The Music... The Madness... The Murder... The Motion Picture... Now seen in a revitalized digital transfer and including more than 20 minutes worth of scenes not seen in its original release, Amadeus remains a screen triumph: as sumptuous period epic, soaring celebration of the music of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, a top-100 films selection by the American Film Institute and as the winner of eight 1984 Academy Awards, including Best Picture, Director and Adapted Screenplay. In 1781 Vienna, court composer Antonio Salieri is maddened with envy after discovering that the divine musical gifts he desires for himself have been bestowed on the bawdy, impish Mozart, whom he plots to destroy by any means necessary. And by means of cinematic craft and sublime music, we watch spellbound.

This was a great film, and gives you a great insight into classical music, and was definately worth watching. This movie depicts the story of the jealosy of Saliari, who according to the movie killed Mozart. This movie is extremely funny, and shows you the true nature of Mozart with his disturbing giggles, and abnormal behaviour. This movie is very funny at the beginning and then it progresses into a crime film, and has a very powerful and moving ending. The film, is not entirely true, although it is great, it's a murder mystery film, a musical film, and also a comedy! This is a well rounded film, with great acting and is one of the best films I have seen (other than the Lord of the Rings). Even if you hate classical music, watch it, you will love it. This film, although has quite a lot of operas, but they will intrege everyone, no matter if you like Mozart or not! The background music is also great, with a lot of Mozarts popular music, with music being directed by Strauss, a popular musician. This film, actually gave the plot for the Simpsons edition where Bart was Mozart. If you liked that episode you'll like this also! Try, this film, you won't be disappointed!

A huge hit in the mid eighties, this movie won an oscar for best actor to F. Murray Abraham. Also starring Tom Hulce as the fun-loving (almost manic) Mozart, it tells the story of artistic rivalry between two composers. Surprisingly funny (and moving), this classic film has a tremendous score filled with soaring Mozart music. One of those modern cinema classics that everyone should see at least once.

This was an excellent movie, very deserving of an academy award (best film, 1984). Elaborate production brings all the detail of the classical era into focus, although it is historically incorrect, so don't take the artistic licence of this film as fact. Its also a great place to introduce yourself to some of Mozarts catalogue.
