a carefully planned attack on airforce one sees the president and his family held hostage. whilst the various important politicians etc, struggle to meet the hostage takes demands, the president is taking back his plane. taking down terrorists with out any weapons is hard enough - but the president will do just this
The plot sucks and used the typical 'the american president is always right and will win' line.
However, I loved it. The use of brass in the score, and the acting of Gary Oldeman and Harrison Ford redeemed the film and turned it into a fun movie. It did deal slightly with political issues.
Unless a devout action fan, maybe you'd be better of hiring this.
Harrison Ford has the charisma and enough presence to play the role of quite a convincing President of the United States. He also plays the role of devoted husband and father really well as evidenced in the Jack Ryan movies.
The movie does have at first sight a rather unconvincing premise but in these days and times of world political tensions not an entirely unbelievable premise after all. Harrison Ford plays the besieged President fighting for the lives of his family and hijacked plane from foreign terrorists.
The action is fast paced and well executed. Worth a viewing and one of Ford's better movies of late.
Bad, bad, bad and then some. Air Force One is the kind of over inflated, self important and incredibly stupid and boring movies that makes one despair of Hollywood action cinema. The President of America, no less, finds himself hijacked. Even the acting from a good cast is wooden and unconvincing. A total waste of time.
