After 2 mediocre transformers games for the PlayStation 3 console (Transformers:The Game & Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen), High Moon studio's have produced a winning formula and a game worthy of the Transformers Brand.

Firstly I will start with the Campaign. Although both the Autobot & Decepticons Campaigns combined don't take all that long to complete, they are both highly addictive and enjoyable. You will most likely play through each campaign more than once though if you are anything like I am.There are five chapters for each of the two Campaigns, with each chapter giving a choice of 3 different characters to choose from.

Combat is very satisfying and easy to get the hang of. Instead of using a cover system like a lot of the modern day 3rd person shooters, this game encourage's you to use your instant transformation to vehicle ability to evade instead.

Graphics and Sound are amazing. Cybertron really comes to life in full HD. There is not a lot of variety with the visuals though, but it is what you would expect for Cybertron. Audio is fantastic as well. The sound of Metal smashing together as you melee attack your enemy feels very authentic. Most importantly, the character models are truly a masterpiece, whether it be vehicle or robot form. Transformation from robot to vehicle and vice versa is very convincing and instantaneous.

Lastly I will talk about my favourite part of the game which is the multiplayer. I have only recently got into the whole multiplayer experience starting with Modern Warfare 2, but now I have to say I much prefer War for Cybertron. There are 8 different types of matches so should be something for everyone.

Apparently DLC for this game is due at the end of this month including 5 new characters (Scattershot and Jazz for Autobots & Demolisher, Onslaught and Shockwave for Decepticons) for multiplayer and escalation, as well as 4 new multiplayer maps.

In conclusion this game has quickly become my favourite game for 2010 and I don't think it will be leaving my console anytime soon.

G1 fans rejoice! Finally a Transformers game that we can be proud of - the War For Cybertron is a fantastic imaginging of the battle between the Autobots and Decepticons. The single player campaign mode (individual and co-op) tells the story of the Transformers from the perspective of each of the factions, but the multiplayer is where the action is at! All your favourite characters are there (although some are restricted to DLC), and you can customise bots with various upgrades. The action is fast and furious, and the different capabilities of the different kinds of robots (vehicles, planes, etc.) adds a a surprising amount of depth. Well recommended!

The only flaws I'd mention is that the PS3 version can be a bit slow at times, and the game is a little bit buggy, but hopefully the joy of modern-day consoles means that over time these problems will be fixed through patches.
