The foundation of Dr Kageyama?s Maths Training is 100 square calculations a method conceived by Kageyama Hidea, a Japanese elementary school principal. The DS is held side ways like a book and all answers are written using the stylus.
The key principal of the software is repetition which according to Kageyama stimulates the brain. The main exercise 100 cells maths, consists of 100 hundred simple maths problems combined into a 10 by 10 grid using the numbers at the top and side of the grid. There are however many other exercises, ranging from simple one digit math problems to slightly more complex three digit challenges.

As a Mum with 3 school aged Children I think this game is fantastic, It is more of a quick maths review game that you play for only about 10 a day (we use it for home work before other games are allowed to be played), you start at level one and as you get better the levels will get harder, my youngest is 6 and plays it with ease and I enjoy playing it too especially against my secondary school aged daughter as we have a bit of a competition to bet each other..lol Yes that's right with one cartridge if you have more than one ds you can link and compete in different tests... up to 8 people i think you can link at one time, so group can study together....
Its not a game you can play hours on end unless you are obsessed with math, but like i said a quick 5-10 test a day is all it takes to refresh those skills and makes a happier mummy:)
yes there are alot of brain training games but i like this one better for all ages as some of the other ones can be to difficult for 5-6 year olds unless you specifically buy the ones for there age but then to easy for the older kids if you get the gist... This suits my children's current needs...
There are too many brain training games on the DS in my opinion. Sight Training, Brain Training, More Brain Training, Big Brain Academy and now maths training. In my opinion, maths is not one of those things you need to spend $50 for an electronic version to practice at - what's wrong with a pencil and paper? Or some Suduku?
In my opinion, you'll have to be quite a maths nut - in which case this may well be too easy for you - to fully make use of Maths Training.
