Gran Turismo for the PSP is a disappointment for some, yet a good change to others, depending on what you prefer.
There is no campaign mode or any ability to modify your cars apart from changing your tire types and minor steering settings. The choice of cars ranges over 800, yet when you wish to purchase a car you can choose a colour which cannot be changed unless you buy the whole car AGAIN and clog up your garage.
The game has a large selection of tracks, but each race is just a kind of quick race, and you only get ranked if you come first. There is no counter for the amount of races you have completed, but a counter for how many you have come first in.
There is a challenge section which is probably the most interesting part of the game as it's not just casual racing.
Detailed information on every car is available when you view the car for purchasing on in your garage. This information covers it's creation and history, so a lot of reading is there for you to enjoy.
Overall, if you can get the game cheap then I recommend buying it, but if you rather playing something with a campaign, don't buy it.
What a game. I got my PSP (GT edition), simply for the love of GT(Gran Turismo)! Much like the rest of the GT series, the graphics, gameplay and overall look is brilliant. The multi-player functions are also terrific, as I regually play with friends. Overall, this game is purely AMAZING!!!
By far the best simulator on the PSP by a mile - it plays like GT5-prologue which is incredible given the PSP's hardware is comparable to the PS2's porformance. Graphics are excellent, definitely one of the best on PSP although there are some anomolies (strange blotches appearing from time to time) which are very minor. A common complaint is that there is no career mode or the ability to tune the cars which I do agree with to a certain extent, but given the small size of the PSP disc format, and the HUGE collection of cars (over 800) it is easy to understand why they couldn't include these features. There are so many cars to collect this game will take a very long time to 'complete', and the challenge mode (aka licence mode) even helps you improve your driving technique. A must have for racing fans if you have a PSP.
