This book was FANTASTIC for us as new home buyers. We wanted a resouce that wasn't from a financial institution and it was full of very practical hints. Especially good was the hard hitting advice on budgetting and making do and also stretching your dollars....there is great advice in there for todays younger generations who need to hear this sort of advice, rather than the buy -it-now advice that screams at them from the media/advertising etc etc
BUY it! You'll save yourself heaps of money in the long run....before you settle down and have babies!

This book was a little disappointing in that it offered no new advice that you couldn't find on any good bank website. It is very thin and really isn't aimed at the whole population. Not everyone has the same life situation as the author - today it is hard enough getting a mortgage to start off with. I am disappointed that having been reprinted many times, it does not seem to have been revised. Perhaps a book covering saving tips would be more useful. Perhaps you would be better off putting the cost of this book into your mortgage account?

I found this book relevant to my situation and some of the strategies for paying your mortgage off appealed. Some of the strategies though were not particularly relevant. I felt that this book was a good introduction for those who are looking at ways they could pay their mortgage off faster.

The author has some great methods for paying off a house quickly. Although it would only possible BC (Before children). We are on low income, so I have tried adopting some of her thoughts, but many are just not possible. Paying off 100,000 in 5 years is not possible when we have 2 fast growing boys, and are a single income.

I found some useful ideas in this book, but if you are not young and without a family, the use is limited. I also find that the prices are so out of date that the title is false encouragement. I don't think paying a mortgage in five years is possible now.

This book was my first read before buying my first property. I did not pay it off in 5 years, however, I did find this book very useful in obtaining a loan from the bank, and understanding how loans work. I dont think in this day and age that it is possible to pay off a loan in 5 years on certain properties, it all depends on the circumstances of the owner, however, some of the ideas in this book are very worthwhile, and I think it is still worth a read. A lot of good ideas in there such as bartering your services to save money on things etc, take the principles/ideas from this book, but dont expect to ACTUALLY be able to pay off your mortgage in 5 years - times have changed

Not really helpful for me as I am married and have children (as the author saved up all her money before she had any child. That's why she can pay off her mortgage in just less than 5 years), but I think it's quite good for young couple without child who's thinking about buying house.

No different or new information from what I already knew or could have obtained from searching the internet. If it was more expensive it would be a waste of good money. A little disjointed and confusing at times but overall confimed what other financial advisor say... put as much as you can on your mortgage and pay it off as quick as you can.

I keep this book on my bookshelf for handy reference when I need some inspiration on battling with a mortgage. I agree some of the information is very particular to Anita's situation and the time it was done. However, there is good information and perhaps if you can take on some of the mindset that she used you will be better off for it. Sometimes however you can find yourself talking to her in your mind "But I have kids, how do I do this!" I hope she releases a book how to pay off your mortgage on one income!
