If you find that you have gotten yourself stuck creating characters for your novel, figuring out how a particular character would react in certain situations that you might be tossing them into, or you are just curious about people's behavioural traits then I would recommend that you pick up a copy of 'Writer's Guide to Character Traits'.
Each profile provided on human behaviors (from the benign to the bizarre and grotesque) and personalities is a fascinating insight into not only real people but the characters that you may be attempting to create for a novel or movie script. It can help you keep from creating murky characters that have no definite grounding and start to flit from trait to trait which can kill off an audiences attention to your work.
If you want to strengthen your characters and figure out how they tick then this book covers much of what you will need to know and then some. Remember that strong characters can carry a weak plot, but weak characters cannot. A good addition to any writer's resource library.
