This is a good guide to making movies on a ultra-low or practically no-budget. It will give you tips and hints on how to get people to help or donate food or money that can really help get your film made. In fact, it will probably help you just as much as actually taking a film course, and cost you a whole heap less... Although it must be said, going to film school helps you meet the people that you need to work for you... :)
