This book by King Yao, author of the widely-acclaimed Weighing the Odds in Hold 'em Poker, should be used as a guideline to sports betting rather than a blueprint. The sports betting market changes and adapts quickly. The underlying principles shown in this book should help the reader adapt and continue to make good bets even when the market changes.

Reviews
–
This book deals with many aspects to sports betting, especially for those wanting to make money consistently over time. But take note – winning in sports requires patience, discipline and knowledge on finding the best situation to enter your money. Yao explains the fundamentals like expectation, reading the odds, the types of bets, the basics on how to conduct your own analysis, and mistakes or traps to avoid – essential to anyone. A disadvantage from an Australian or New Zealand perspective is that half the book contains detailed data, analysis and evaluation of Americans sports like NFL, NBA, MBL and US college sports. That said, you can follow the author’s conceptual and analytical thinking with his line of reasoning, and then apply this methodology to your favourite sport. If you are prepared to do a bit of research to get yourself up-to-speed on the market and up-to-date on your sport, you will be putting yourself in a position to ‘get the best of it’. This book is a ‘must buy’ as it will help you in many ways.
