Gr 3-5 The female narrator of this live-action video explains the basics of weather science. The program is divided into three segments, each dealing with a different aspect of weather. The first part introduces the science of meteorology. Viewers learn about the layers of the atmosphere, the water cycle, and the wide range of instruments used to measure weather. The basics of different types of weather are examined. The next segment introduces different types of storms and their causes. Lightning and thunder are explored. The final part presents the concept of global warming. It points out how all of earth's systems interact, and how changes in one aspect can affect many other things. Each segment is followed by an class activity. News footage of weather phenomena, as well as excellent graphics, clearly illustrate important concepts.
