Watercolor pencil Step by Step will not disappoint.. it truly is 'lead by the hand' stuff all the way with precise step by step instruction for a wide range of subjects. I found it to be a very good starter book for this medium and it gave me the confidence to tackle subjects I previously found daunting.

The end result of each painting is an acturate respresentation of the subject matter, including lots of detail, giving a 'photo' quality result. The chosen subjects are challenging and interesting, and care and patience is required to achieve the intricate detail and quality finish. I am also interested in conventional color pencil art and I found this book helpful for that, too.

If you hate the boredom of endless instruction about materials and techniques, and colouring apples and pears, and simply want to learn by 'doing', then I highly recommend this book. It will challenge you to the nth degree but the end result is well worth the effort.... BUT you must want to produce artwork that has a lot of minute detail and is not just a splash of 2 greens to create a tree!!
