For most of his life highland warrior Lachlan MacAllister has been haunted by the specter of his fathers evil deeds. When a plaid belonging to his presumed dead brother is found,Lochlan decides to leave his clan to investigate.
Cat, a vagabond previously mentioned in Taming The Highlander is in fact the bastard daughter of King Phillip of France. She is on the run from her royal fathers henchmen when she encounters Lachlan on his quest.Although he finds her annoying,Lachlan is never the less compelled by honor to rescue the damsel in distress...
This was a great read.Loved Lachlan's willingness to sacrifice himself for Cat's freedom (awwww, that was so sweet). The epilogue was a little strange though, there's a possible tie in with The Dark Hunter series...

I agreed with the other reviewer. This is definitely not the best book by Kinley MacGregor. If felt too rushed at times and combine with a out of character ending, it was difficult to finish. But I guess if you're a fan of this series then it doesn't hurt to read it but for new readers, I wouldn't recommend it because it just might put you off from trying this author again. I prefer her books as Sherrilyn Kenyon more. The Kinley MacGregor that I enjoyed are the Lords of Avalon series.

It's been a few years since I've read a Kinley MacGregor book.....and I thoroughly enjoyed her books. However, I found this book initially hard to get into (all that really kept me reading, was my need to find out if Kieran was alive - and I'm not one to skip pages!!) and it wasn't until the end that it finally picked up. After a few unexpected twists and turns and then a rather 'out-of-it' ending, I can only give this book a 3 star rating. I can think of many many books I have read over the last year or two that were far better than this....sorry Ms MacGregor!!
