An amazing work by one of the worlds most insightful authors. Although this book is short by novel standards, I found myself taking a good month to read and absorb this work of utter genius.
Although this is not an accurate account of H.D. Thoreau's time spent at Walden, it offers ideas and insights that apply greatly to modern life (that are perhaps long overdue), the simple way of living, loving nature and all it has to offer.
"rather love, than money, than fame, give me truth"
Life changing, and far far before its time.

Some books you read furiously, tearing through the pages as quickly as possible, barely able to contain yourself in your rush to reach the hoped for climactic conclusion. Walden is not a book to be hurried through in this way. Instead the book sets a wonderful gentle pace, and in response you relax, take a breath and meander slowly through each chapter, pausing for much thoughtful contemplation along the way.
Walden represents Henry David Thoreau’s account of the two years he spent living on the shore of Walden Pond (Concord, Massachusetts) in a cabin which he built himself. Thoreau undertook this project to learn more about himself and to prove that it is possible to live a rich life by focussing on the true essentials, appreciating the many wonders of nature, and living within our means; in essence by living a simple life.
