Before describing the different garments worn by women and men, the author looks at all aspects of cloth production - raw materials, production tools and techniques for woven and non-woven textiles, decorative textiles and embroidery. He also shows how much can be reconstructed from the discoveries of archaeological excavation.

About the Author

Having studied English Language and Medieval Literature at the University of Durham, Thor Ewing works as a Historical Interpreter. His clients include English Heritage and the Jorvik Viking Centre. He has been making a special study of the clothing of the Viking Age for several years.
