I found this very up-to-date guide great, as usual lonely planet delivers on everything from budget to luxury, where you can find good street food, where you can indulge in a sauna and massage, best unique places to visit before the tourist hordes discover them, and other activities such as cycling and trekking!

my one disappointment is that the maps do not cover the area of ho chi minh where i will be spending a few weeks of my trip, which means i miss out on that comprehensive guide of facilties and shops within my area that i have relied on lonely planet for in the past.

worth special note also are the glossy colour pages, including specialist info on food, adventure activities, and the northern hill tribe people.

We love preplanning our trips with the Lonely Planet Guides, they always have great information about the best things to do, loads of options for planning accommodation and great tips about the local culture.
