Inspiring, Informative & Easy.
I have so coveted this book I've had the library copy out on a rotational loan! The cupcakes I can't resist baking have drawn more friends than ever 'just popping by' as word spreads!
The tantalising photographs make whipping up batches supremely easy - the instructions are super easy to follow, ingredients simple enough that substitutions can be made if there is an exotic ingredient (or even a staple) that you are out of. I frequently bake these with my 7yr old boy, letting him measure and read the recipe.
It strikes me that this book is the perfect birthday gift for any domestic goddess in-training you know, and I've ordered a copy for just such a purpose today - it's great having an aussie website that will provide it pronto el pronto for us late planners!
I've yet to secure my own copy (still trusting to the libraries good will) but that, and a few backup copies for quickie birthday gifts, are absolutely top of my agenda.
Don't let the vegan in the title put you off - yes, they are all vegan, but happily you can substitute cow milk for any of the rice, coconut or soy milk options. But you should at least once try using coconut milk to moisten a batter - mmmmnn, sublime!
There is a photograph at least every second page, and a delicious section of icings & recipe variation suggestions, along with hints and tips in the beginning of the book. Photo's are so important! I'm reading another vegan cookbook at the moment without a single photo or illustration and must conclude that I am very much an armchair appreciator! I can't get excited about a recipe without a picture. .
Go ahead and order this book you will become dependant upon it in no time, and will soon come to belive that the best dessert for any occasion is - A Cupcake!!

Everybody who enjoys baking should buy this book! It's fun, it's easy to follow, and the recipes are utterly delicious! Best of all, the cupcakes are a cinch to make; no creaming or heavy mixing required. I rave about this book to everyone, and all of my friends - omni and veg alike - have been impressed with the results. The vanilla and chocolate cupcakes are great as base recipes, but the more unusual cupcakes - green tea, chai latte, and Mexican hot chocolate (to name a few) are out of this world.

Best vegan cookbook ever!!! I have made sooooo many of these cupcakes! Only recommendation (apart from saying you should definitely buy this book) is that you should halve the frosting for most of the recipes.

My copy of this just arrived and I am already making a list of ingredients I need to bake a batch this afternoon! The problem is choosing which recipe!!! When you have to choose between such sensational creations as Pistachio Rosewater cupcakes, Chai Latte Cupcakes and Mexican Hot Chocolate Cupcakes...whats a girl to do! This could cause a revolution as vegan cupcakes venture forth to take over the world!

Well, I was the first reviewer of this book, and I have a little more to share.
I've just ordered my 4th copy of this book because I kept giving it away as gifts everytime I order. Although this time I have ordered one for me and an extra (gifting back up!) I just know that I'm not going to be able to hang on to mine. I'm putting in another order for another 4.
Yes, I have a lot of vegetarian friends who find this book fabulous as it has already made substitutions for eggs, so perhaps not everyone will find it as fabulous as I have, but it is still seriously fabulous.
It also includes a section on 'gluten-free cupcakes' which are just as magnifique as the rest!
The moist and delectable cupcakes are trusty and reliable recipes, I've been using this book for nigh on 4 years and have yet to have a cupcake failure.
There is also a great section on cupcake trouble shooting. The ingredient index is fabulous and they also go into some detail on different ingredients and 'why' one product works over another. I love this feature!
Aside from all the other pluses of the book there is one final detail - exceptional presentation. It's actually surprisingly rare to find such a great book with inspirational decorations. I have yet to master the art of frosting with icing bags, but today I go to get some lessons from my sister, who proclaims herself an expert. Hooray, I will get to replicate the ice-cream whipped effect on the cover.
I expect I'll get it down, as I've prepared x80 mini-cupcakes from the very first fail-safe vanilla cupcake recipe (with my own spice variations).
Fret not, I have lots of friends to feed! Although the damage to my waistline from this constant baking is taking a toll (I'm probably x2 sizes larger than when I first reviewed 'Vegan Cupcakes'), this time I'm going to bring them along to a meditation class at the Australian School of Meditation and Yoga. I've learnt how dangerous it is to have them sitting on the bench at home. How divine they look on a stand under a dome - delectable, irresistible & heavenly.
