Having been critically acclaimed when it was first published, "Tuck Everlasting" has become a much-loved, well-studied modern-day classic. This anniversary edition features an in-depth interview conducted by Betsy Hearne in which Babbitt takes a look at the book 25 years later.

Flawless in both style and structure, it is rich in imagery and punctuated with light fillips of humor."--"The Horn Book Magazine" "Beautiful and descriptive language is the strength of Babbitt's fantasy about Winnie and her encounter with the Tuck family, who cause her--and readers--to ponder an important question: What would it be like to live forever?"--"Booklist" "Probably the best work of our best children's novelist."--"Harper's" "A fearsome and beautifully written book that can't be put down or forgotten."--"The New Yorker" "Exciting and excellently written."--"The New York Times Book Review" "Natalie Babbitt's great skill is spinning fantasy with the lilt and sense of timeless wisdom of the old fairy tales. . . . It lingers on, haunting your waking hours, making you ponder."--"The Boston Globe" "With its serious intentions and light touch the story is, like the Tucks, timeless."--"Chicago Sun-Times" "This book is as shapely, crisp, sweet, and tangy as a summer-ripe pear."--"Entertainment Weekly"

This book was amazing! I had watched the movie but I would choose the book over the movie anyday.
Winnie is a young girl who is sick of being controlled by her mother and grandmother and confined to the boundaries of the houses gates. She conducts a challenge for herself that leads her to be kidnapped by "unusal" people. This experience unravels many mysteries that unlocks a world of everlasting tales. Natalie Babbit manages to captivate your attention making it impossible to put the book down.
I have heard a few people say that the first few chapters are a struggle to get through but as soon as they got pass those chapters the book become harder to put down. I didn't experience this problem but it shows how this book grabs your attention for even the skeptical.
Totally recommend for young readers at heart and individuals from 10.
