This book is a lot of short stories about the characters in Sookies world. It doesn't follow on from the last book (Dead and Gone) but it does fill in the gaps that I felt were missing. Such as what happened to Hadley. The next Sookie book is due out next May and it is called Dead in the family. Can't wait for it!! Love Eric!

I generally find short stories annoying (preferring to settle into a novel) so was surprised at how well rounded each story is and I loved seeing into Sookie's life again even just in these snippets. A Touch of Dead helps to fill in a few gaps in the storyline and yet I think this book stands alone just fine.

The person who wrote the review above dated 17/05/2009 is obviously trying to scrounge an easy 10 cents... This series is and never will be anything like the Twilight saga... A notable difference being the target audiences (Twilight for teens - Sookie Stackhouse for an older audience) I can say there really isn't much of a comparison between the two; except to say they both have vampires in the storylines... The Sookie Stackhouses are much more entertaining than Twilight as Bella (Twilight) is nothing short of a tedious character who you get bored with easily since she doesn't seem to have or want a life, clinging desperately to Edward like a leech... At least Charlaine Harris hasn't been trapped in the past and turned Sookie into a man-dependent character - quite the contrary!!! Sookie Stackhouse fan by far!

Fill in some gaps on the Sookie stories we know have happened in the series, but weren't explained. Great addition to the Sookie-verse, can't wait for the next in the series 2010!!!

The short stories contained in this book are fun and delightful to read. They do not continue on from the most recent novel but "insert" between the other novels giving a bit more of an explanation to some events such as Cousin Hadley's death. The only thing wrong with it was it wasn't long enough!

love sookie. and love all the depth charlaine harris goes into in all her books. regarding it to twilight is like saying its the same as buffy. NOTHING ALIKE. get a clue. just coz there is some romance and a vampier where there is some trouble, dont make them anyhting alike, get any vamp based book and they all have that in common. the story is quite gritty and does not shy away on details. i would watch the age of the reader. but otherwise i found twilight a real what teenage girls fantisise about (even though i am a fan). BUT sookie as much easier to relate to coz she is just trying to live her life while being stuck in the wars of the supes

For all those who were disapointed that this was a book of short stories, I regularly check Charlaine harris's official website. It has kept me well informed as to when the books will be released and what is in them so I knew this was a compilation of previously published short stories. I've found it very helpful. I hope everyone else does too. www.charlaineharris.com

I was a little disappointed with the book. The first couple of stories just didn't draw me in unlike her other books. The last few stories in the book they were more intriguing. If you're an avid Charlaine fan you should buy the book for your collection but I'm not sure if it will keep you intrigued like all the other books.
